Our Background

Founded in 2003 by Ashley and Nita Martin, Just Karate provides a fun, inclusive environment. Our instructors share a prestigious lineage, having trained under the legendary Sensei Enoeda of the JKA.

The Shotokan Style

We teach traditional Shotokan, focusing on deep stances and explosive power. Our curriculum covers Kihon (basics), Kata (forms), and Kumite (sparring).

Author of The Shotokan Karate Bible and Cambridge Sports Coach of the Year. Graded to black belt under Sensei Enoeda.

Instructor

A black belt since 1999 who has trained at the JKA Tokyo HQ. Specialises in the technical application of kata and traditional research.

Sensei Jack Powell

Instructor

Graded to black belt in 2024 by Sensei Ashley Martin. Brings previous experience as an assistant Sensei with Tora Judo Kwai.

Sensei Robert Moir

Instructor

After exploring several martial arts, he settled on Shotokan karate in 2006, earning his black belt in 2009. Shotokan's blend of clean, direct techniques and hidden depths continues to fascinate him.
